Freshman Year: Recap.

Last spring, I was a typical high school senior looking forward to graduation and most importantly, college. Unfortunately, due to state budget cuts, I was not able to attend my first choice school. I ran out of options and eventually SRI’d to CSULA. I was beyond crushed. I was no longer looking forward to college. While most of my peers constantly spoke of the upcoming school year, I often avoided to topic. However, the moment I stepped foot into campus that fall, something inside me changed. I felt fresh. I felt confident. I came to realize my effort was all that mattered. In the end, society applauds for those who do not give up. From my professors to peers, my dedication was ALWAYS acknowledged. My freshman year of college has been a great challenge, yet an excellent experience. I have come face to face with lenient professors, difficult professors, and those in between. I have met many new faces I will never forget, made new memories I will always treasure. Despite the stack of homework assignments and papers, and of course, my extremely tight schedule throughout the year, I managed to make my way to the finish line. I have come to appreciate the values of dedication, for it surprises you with the unexpected in the end. In my case, a GPA higher than 3.6? You’re kidding! Next fall, I will begin my sophomore year of college at a brand new school in a brand new state located 3,000 miles away from Los Angeles. Though I remain nervous about leaving my parents, siblings, and friends for Towson University, I am excited for the challenges that await. Let the summer fun begin!
